The following Alpine passes remain open throughout the year: Bernina, Julier, Lukmanier, Maloja, Ofen.

Cars can be transported through a number of railway tunnels; this shortens and facilitates your journey. The loading of cars onto the railway is usually done without a long wait.

Autobahn Toll
A charge of CHF 40.00 (EUR 26) is made for the Autobahn toll sticker. These stickers are valid from the 1st December of the previous year till the 31st January of the following year (as printed on the sticker). If you take a trailer or caravan along, you have to buy an extra sticker. Autobahn stickers can be bought at border crossings, at Swiss post offices, in petrol stations, etc.

Rules of the Road
The speed limit is:
- On the Autobahn (marked green) 120 km/h
- On other open roads 80 km/h
- In towns 50 km/h

Seat belts must be fastened on front and rear seats. Children under 7 years must be protected by a restraining device such as a child car seat.
