If you are aiming high this summer, you have come to the right place. This is not only because Chur is surrounded by some spectacular peaks. I enjoy paragliding from one of the local mountains, the Montalin, to Chur, which is a scenic and breathtaking experience. I discovered my love of climbing in Chur and 300 Swiss mountain peaks later I can say: there are hardly any more beautiful spots to start a holiday.

Chur is the ideal base for your train and mountain adventures. The lines of the Rhaetian Railway (RhB), the Bernina and the Glacier Express belong to UNESCO's world heritage sites and offer unique views. You will experience a winding ride in the open-top car on the Chur – Arosa line. If you get off the train here you can take one of the hiking or biking tours around the picturesque mountain villages or navigate one of the nearby attractions: from the Rope park at Churwalden / Lenzerheide through to rafting on the Rhine gorge to Bike-Paradies Flims.

Whether you choose the vine-rich Rhine valley or sunbathing at 1,600 meters above sea level: from Chur, everything is with easy reach using public transport as well as the mountain railways. The mountain railway leads directly from the city centre to the local mountain and the Brambrüesch sun terrace. When you get back, there are numerous cultural and culinary offerings awaiting you in the city - such as the Graubünden Museum of Fine Arts or the Rhaetian Museum or the Chur Meat Pie or other local alpine products.
