Prättigau

Summer time is climbing time, especially if like me, you grew up in Prättigau, surrounded by mountains and with the opportunity to discover the numerous trails in the Rätikon. My love of rock climbing has taken me all over the world. You do not have to be a professional climber to explore the Rätikon, even beginners can enjoy the unprecedented far-off views.

Nestled in the majestic Silvretta group and the Rätikon, Prättigau offers a variety of nature and culture-related experiences. In addition, its proximity to Davos Klosters and Heidi Land opens numerous other opportunities. In Prättigau, every third Bündner Alpkäse (cheese) comes from the region. Families, in particular, like to take advantage of our holiday offers: helping on a mountain farm, sleeping on straw, guided cultural tours and much more.

Prättigau provides over 1,000 km of sign-posted hiking paths and over 500 km of biking trails for mountain bikers. Hiking the Prättigauer Höhenweg (high-level trail) will take you in four days along the Swiss-Austrian border from Klosters via St. Antönien to Bündner Herrschaft, the home of Heidi. Moreover, Prättigau is the cradle of the Swiss-Bike-Masters, the ultimate classic for mountain bikers. A tip for the discerning traveller: relax on a sunny terrace or in the outdoor pool in Pany.

While I enjoy cycling, I still prefer the rocky walls of the Rätikon. In summer, climbers from all over the world flock here to tackle the numerous climbing routes in the best platy limestone. Even the less skilled can take advantage of the first fixed-rope climbing route in Graubünden to take them to dizzying heights. The range of climbing offers is rounded off with various climbing walls and a climbing hall in Küblis, which is also used by the Swiss climbing elite. Maybe we will see each other there. I wish you a fantastic holiday!
