Buongiorno!
Wild, untouched beauty - that's what you’ll discover with us in the Moesano region, from the San Bernardino Pass at 2,065 metres above sea level, along the paths around the Lago d'Isola and down to Rossa in the Calancatal. As a tourism director, I still find the natural vegetation and idyllic landscape fascinating and I’m sure you will too!
In summer, the Moesano region is definitely the ideal destination for anyone in search of tranquillity and closeness to nature. Swamps, pine forests and its unusual flora give San Bernardino, the Misox and Calancatal a unique atmosphere. Explorers small and large will keep discovering new secrets of nature. Either on the 800 km of clearly-marked hiking trails or when climbing one of our many mountain peaks.
A tip: the “Sentiero Alpino Calanca” is a 50 km, spectacular mountain trail between San Bernardino and Santa Maria in Calanca that runs through unspoilt parts of our landscape. The mountain passes linking San Bernardino with the Calanca Valley, Rheinwald and Valchiavenna (Italy) are rich in history. If you prefer a more leisurely pace, there are numerous hiking trails throughout the region. Or take the cable railway to car-free Braggio, a sun terrace in the Calancatal, where you can get even closer to nature.
My homeland has a lot to offer: set off in a kayak, go climbing in the San Bernardino high rope park or cycle along the Misox mountain bike track and the Calancatal valley routes. Our mineral water springs will quench your summer thirst! Wishing you invigorating days and a great holiday.
