Thusis, 720 m

Thusis is situated at 720 meters above sea-level and it is the local capital of the Lower Rhine area; it is the biggest population centre there, with 2600 inhabitants. Because of its excellent infrastructure, Thusis is today a magnet for the region, whether it means cultural events or shopping. For the hiker and the biker, Thusis and its hinterland are a real Eldorado. The network of hiking trails, which covers 350 km, is in a well-forested area.

Its central position makes Thusis an ideal starting-point for many pass-crossings and excursions in Canton Graubünden and on into Ticino, be it by public or private transport. The routes pass many an idyllic village and lake, or let you discover hidden cultural treasures.
